Ideas for driving trip 14 hours from springfield il?

wanting to just jump in the car and go on a little driving vacation. Don't mind driving up to 14 hours from home. Looking for suggestions on what to go see or do that is relaxing, interesting and focused on being outdoors, however with decent hotels around. Slow paced would be great too. Ideas?
