Anyone know anything about A-Fib?

my mom has A-Fib and has had 5 ablations and is on meds now, but her heartbeat is still irregular. has anyone had a similar problem? and if so what has your doctor told you to help fix your problem? my moms doctor mentioned a pace maker, but from what i've read, it doesn't work for someone with A-fib.. thanks for any help.
